Best Lightest Gaming Laptops in 2022

The best thin and light gaming laptops have capabilities that were unfathomable just a few years ago. They’re lightweight without losing power, and they can handle all of your gaming demands. And it’s all down to the strong rivalry between Nvidia and AMD, as well as Intel and AMD, which has resulted in components reducing in size while getting more energy-efficient and powerful.

Gaming on the move no longer necessitates lugging along a gigantic laptop that will inevitably cause back discomfort. In fact, you can get gaming laptops that are as thin and light as the finest laptops on the market these days. One or two of them can even compete with the greatest Ultrabooks in terms of portability.

These ultra-thin and light gaming laptops also have a surprising amount of battery life. If you like, you may leave the charger at home. Furthermore, costs have decreased, so getting one won’t cost nearly as much as it used to. For instance, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is much less expensive than most of its rivals while being just as transportable and capable.

We’re beginning to see more and more gaming laptops that may be termed portable, thanks to the expansion of gaming companies and goods. We’ve compiled a list of the lightest gaming laptops for 2022, and we’ve evaluated them to see whether they’re worth your money.

MSI Prestige 14

View on Amazon

In 2022, the MSI Prestige 14 gaming laptop will be the lightest on the market. It’s not just light for a gaming laptop, but it’s also lighter than other laptops on the market this year, weighing in at 2.84 pounds (1.29 kg). The smaller screen and thin chassis (just 0.63 inches/16 mm) make this the most portable gaming laptop this year, albeit not by much.

The mix of horsepower and cooling capacity is what generally makes gaming laptops large, so you have to wonder how the Prestige 14 performs in both areas for something this thin. The response is a little contradictory. More modern games will run on it, but you’ll have to pick between 60 frames per second and good visuals, and some of the most demanding titles, such as AC: Valhalla, will not. This laptop is great for old favorites in terms of gaming, not for trying out new games as they come out.

Furthermore, no matter what game you play, you’ll almost certainly have a lot of cooling difficulties. There’s plenty of vent space on the bottom, and the way the lid swings up provides a gap that adds a lot of additional air if you’re sitting at a table or desk. On the plus side, for a laptop at this price point, the display is surprisingly nice. With up to 99 percent sRGB color accuracy, the FullHD (19201080) IPS screen provides you with rich and true colors all around.

The brightness is a touch below average, peaking at roughly 280 nits, so using it outdoors or in regions with a lot of natural light may cause frustration. On the other hand, if you use it at night, you can dim it all the way down to 5 nits, which reduces eye strain. While the design is elegant and delivers some appealing looks, the structure is quite frail. The huge trackpad is wonderful, but it wobbles a little when you use it, and the lid hinge isn’t as robust as we’d like.

Furthermore, the battery capacity is sufficient but still not exceptional for a gaming laptop. You must be capable to get approximately 7 hours of light out of it. Obviously, if you start playing any of your games, that number reduces, but it’s still plenty to go about with. If you’re seeking the lightest and most portable gaming laptop to play your favorite games on and carry around with you.

Pros

  • Extremely portable and small.
  • The world’s lightest gaming laptop.
  • It has a lot of memory and a lot of computing power.
  • The display is of excellent quality and accuracy.
  • There is a lot of connectedness.
  • The battery life is excellent

Cons

  • It immediately heats up.
  • The video card is older and less powerful.
  • Not as long-lasting.

ASUS ROG Flow X13

View on Amazon

It was amazing to see an entry from ASUS’ gaming powerhouse ROG appear in this light. The ASUS ROG Flow X13 ends up costing a little more than the MSI Prestige and the Razer Blade Stealth, which are its closest competitors.

However, the ROG Flow X13’s performance, creative technology, and mobility made it seem to be well worth the money at first sight. The irony of small laptops is that there was a lot of room for stuff to go incorrect, as well as the X13 may have had some issues in this regard. It has an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, an 8-core Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a terabyte SSD on its own. It’s not only a great gaming laptop; it’s also capable of doing some very intense editing jobs.

The display is also conducive to creative pursuits. The 1920×1200 display provides you with a little more area to work with, and the 113 percent sRGB coverage means colors are somewhat oversaturated but largely accurate. The inclusion of a touchscreen with tablet mode (unusual in a gaming laptop) boosts productivity while on the road. The only thing that is lacking is longer battery life. Even as a gaming laptop, the X13 falls short, providing just 3-4 hours of casual usage.

Basic testing demonstrates that prolonged gaming use causes both the CPU and GPU to run hotter than they should, and your performance will suffer as a result. The Flow X13 is designed to work with the XG Mobile, and it’s likely that it will significantly improve performance, but it’ll cost you the same amount as the laptop. The XG port consumes a lot of port capacity, which would be a connectivity drawback.

Ultimately, the ASUS ROG X13 Flow is an excellent mega gaming laptop for both pros and enthusiasts. It has amazing mobility, processing power, high-quality design, and power, a 2-in-1 capability, making it one of the most entertaining and interesting laptops available in 2022. It has obvious flaws, but for someone who wants unrivaled mobility during the day and extraordinary performance at night, this is likely the only laptop that can meet their expectations.

Pros

  • A powerful laptop with plenty of capacity for expansion.
  • One of the smallest gaming laptops on the market.
  • Excellent construction quality.
  • The design is very small and portable.
  • Aesthetics that are appealing.
  • The display is excellent and has a broad viewing angle.
  • There is a good quantity of connection.

Cons

  • Thermals aren’t great.
  • The battery life is terrible.
  • Pricier

Razer Blade Stealth 13

View on Amazon

In 2022, the Razer Blade Stealth 13 is the only gaming ultrabook available for purchase. While “Ultrabook” is largely a branding exercise by Intel, it also incorporates a few relevant measures, particularly for the sake of this review, we keep bouncing back and forth on how important of a difference this is.

Any laptop with an i5 or i7 CPU and a thickness of 0.6 inches (15.24mm) qualifies as an ultrabook (or less). As a result, a gaming ultrabook, particularly one from Razer, will have a lot of computing power while being highly portable. If you first pick up the Blade Stealth 13, you’ll notice that it’s a touch heavier than you’d anticipate for a laptop this size, but this gives it a stable and sustainable vibe that you only get in elevated gaming laptops. The aluminum casing gives it both the slimness and the robust heaviness, and the two features in terms of mobility essentially balance each other out.

Furthermore, the Blade 13’s thermals are much superior to most laptops of this size, so you won’t be slowed down by overheated components to the same extent as you may be with less well-built laptops. However, the Nvidia 1650 Ti is indeed a bottleneck, and while you’ll be capable of playing most of this year’s greatest games, they’ll almost certainly run at fewer than 60 fps. It won’t have any issues playing online games, albeit the smaller screen may be a hindrance at times.

The battery capacity of the Stealth Blade 13 justifies its slightly higher cost, with 9–10 hours of light use ranking it one of our top picks. And one of the few that meet the “full day of labor” requirement.

In terms of reliability, it’s one of the highest price-to-performance rates you’ll see this year, but it genuinely seems like it’s worth the investment. Plus, because of the improved cooling capacity, you’ll receive a little higher degree of performance than with comparable laptops with similar components. If money isn’t an issue, the Razer Blade Stealth 13 is the greatest ultraportable gaming laptop in 2022.

Pros

  • Excellent construction quality.
  • Design that is very light.
  • IPS display with excellent clarity.
  • It is very portable and tiny.
  • Cooling capacity is commendable.
  • Overall, a fantastic performance.
  • The battery life is excellent.
  • There is a lot of connectedness.

Cons

  • The pricing is higher.
  • For the money, a somewhat worse performance.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14

View on Amazon

On this list, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 represents the shift from “compact for a laptop” to “light for a gaming laptop.” However, make no mistake about it: it is a fantastic machine. At 3.64 lbs (1.65 kg), it would still be lighter than many gaming laptops.

Despite this, the Zephyrus G14 generates a lot of heat, so you’ll need a table or desk to play for long periods of time. However, since the venting is better, it mainly goes where it’s meant to and doesn’t impede performance due to overheating.

The AniMe matrix, a screen across over 1000 LED pixels that can display the ROG logo, your battery capacity, a sound visualizer, or a range of many other customization options, adds to the depth.

In terms of effectiveness, this executes admirably and meets the requirements. A Ryzen 9 5900HS, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3060 deliver a gaming experience that hardly goes under 60FPS in big sandbox titles like Cyberpunk or Red Dead Redemption 2. A 1440p version is available, but it doesn’t make much of a difference on a screen this tiny, and it may even make fine details or print difficult to see in certain situations.

On the positive side, there are more USB ports than the slimmer alternatives on our list, so it’s not hard to work around, and you get better peripheral compatibility. It’s still an odd decision for a laptop that’s obviously geared at video and presentations. Even though the ASUS ROG Zephyrus 14 is more costly than the Blade Stealth 13, it outperforms it in a few crucial areas. This should be at the top of your list if you’re looking for a “portable gaming laptop” with a gaming focus.

If you need to carry this for a long period of time, you’ll feel the weight difference, but it still performs well and fits comfortably and securely in any backpack or carrying bag

Pros

  • For a game laptop, the battery life is incredible.
  • One of the greatest gaming laptops for the money.
  • It’s also appropriate for professional usage.
  • Gaming performance at the highest level
  • The structure is of high grade.
  • A stunning, high-end design.
  • There is a lot of connectedness.
  • The AniMe matrix panel is a nice addition

Cons

  • There isn’t a webcam.
  • It’s a little bigger than I imagined

MSI Stealth 15M

View on Amazon

The MSI Stealth 15M is the very first gaming laptop in our shortlist to include a 15-inch display, which is noteworthy. We know plenty of gamers who won’t accept anything smaller than a 15-inch screen for immersive, clarity, or other factors, so getting a lighter and also more portable option like the Stealth 15M, especially when it’s a 144hz FHD display, is big.

Despite the bigger screen, the weight and width of this laptop are similar to those of the 13 and 14-inch laptops that have previously been featured on this list. It’s a smidgeon heavier than the Zephyrus G14, but it’s incredibly slim, measuring just 0.63 inches (16mm) thick and trailing only the Blade Stealth by a millimeter.

Overall, its bigger size and weight make it unsuitable for everyday commuting, but it’s still portable enough for frequent travel and excursions to school or the job. Although the i7 is merely a quad-core CPU, it is more than capable of gaming, but streaming and other more demanding tasks may suffer.

The lightweight laptop isn’t nearly as durable as some of the other alternatives, but it’s a trade-off that many firms make in order to get an ultra-thin product. When you open and shut the screen, it flexes a little, and the keyboard feels a touch squishy. But there’s nothing about the laptop that makes it seem cheap or fragile.

The brightness and battery life were the final two things we didn’t like. The screen’s maximum brightness is 278 nits, which isn’t very bright. That’s lower than normal, and it’s likely to hinder usability in highly illuminated situations or while you’re outside. Even with the screen dimmed, the battery life isn’t fantastic. It barely lasts approximately 4 hours on average and even less if you’re operating it under any type of strain, which isn’t ideal if you travel with your laptop regularly.

The MSI Stealth 15M is a great laptop in concept than it is in fact. It’s extremely lightweight, and the digital display is better than similar small form factor gaming laptops, which is a major plus. Apart from that, there’s not much to suggest over models like the Zephyrus G14 or M16.

Pros

  • The display is large and smooth.
  • The design is very slim and small.
  • Outstanding gameplay performance.
  • Lightweight, high-quality construction.
  • There is a lot of connectedness

Cons

  • The display is dim.
  • The battery life is terrible.
  • Under larger loads, it becomes heated.
  • There are only 512GB of storage available.

Eluktronics MAX 15

View on Amazon

Eluktronics is a brand that most people aren’t familiar with. They aren’t nearly as well-known or publicized as the large gaming companies we’ve seen so far, such as Razer, ROG, or even MSI. As evidenced by the Eluktronics Max 15, this up-and-coming brand is doing incredible things with the power and flexibility offered by AMD CPUs.

Thanks to the adoption of magnesium alloy casings, they had a real claim to manufacturing the lightest 15-inch laptop last year. MSI just beat them out this year, but whether it is performing at a greater level remains to be seen. They’re employing an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, which is an 8-core CPU that, when paired with 32GB of RAM, provides for a quicker, more responsive experience while also maximizing the performance of the rest of the components.

It also has an RTX 3070 GPU, which makes things a step further on the GPU. There’s another variant that utilizes a 3080 if you have space in your budget, or if you need to save money, you can go with a 7 4800H (still an 8 core CPU) and an RTX 3060. The display is now equally amazing. Playing games on this screen is a real joy, with a 1440p resolution and a 165hz refresh rate. The QHD resolution may seem excessive for a 15″ screen, but it only adds to the amount of information available, which is never enough, particularly when playing AAA games.

It’s also brighter than most of the laptops on our list, with a brightness of about 330 nits and a color gamut of 95 percent sRGB, so if you do any creative work that requires true colors, you won’t be disappointed by the display.

Finally, even for a gaming laptop, battery life is a mixed bag. It can run for up to twelve hours under idle circumstances. Under normal usage, the MAX 15’s battery life reduces dramatically, and you should expect to get 4-6 hours of use out of it on average. The Eluktronics MAX 15 is a wonderful and lightweight gaming laptop in general. Although it isn’t the lightest laptop on the market today, its mix of performance, cooling, display, and pricing make it unquestionably one of the most appealing alternatives in 2022.

Pros

  • Components that are very strong and well-used.
  • It’s ideal for gamers as well as professionals.
  • Backlit RGB keyboard
  • Hardware from the current generation.
  • There’s a lot of RAM and storage.
  • The cooling system is excellent.
  • The structure is of high grade.
  • The display is large and vivid.
  • The resolution is QHD.
  • There are several connecting choices

Cons

  • Expensive.

Razer Blade 14

View on Amazon

The Razer Blade 14 has a long list of accolades to its name. It’s one of the heaviest 14-inch gaming laptops, one of the most efficient 14-inch gaming laptops for 2022, and the most expensive 14-inch gaming laptops. The Razer Blade 14, particularly the more powerful variant like the one in our review, is out of the question if weight or money are important considerations in your hunt for a gaming laptop.

When weight is taken into account, the Blade 14 is a rather portable computer. Because of Razer’s engineering, it seems much more balanced when carried from room to room, so you don’t notice the weight as much as you would if it were in a bag. Furthermore, even for a 14-inch laptop, the laptop is 0.66 inches (16.8mm) thick, which is rather decent. The battery life is very outstanding, averaging 9 hours of light usage on average. It would be the ideal portable gaming laptop if it were just a little lighter.

There are almost no limitations to what you can accomplish with this laptop. You’ll be able to play practically any game thanks to the technology, and you’ll love the level of precision that means high settings and FPS. Apart from gaming, we’d cheerfully suggest this laptop to content producers, picture and video editors, or programmers–it can do anything.

Moving on, the display is a 165hz QHD (25601440) panel, which is noticeably crisper than a regular 1080p monitor. However, it should be emphasized that this is mostly a paper advantage. The increased resolution makes the picture seem crisper, but it doesn’t truly improve the image quality. Switching from 1080p to 1440p gaming may drop your FPS in games, but picture editors will welcome the increased detail.

You’re paying for a 1440p resolution, yet all it seems to do is slow down your FPS. You’re purchasing a 3080 GPU, but considering how much power it uses, a 3070 would deliver similar results. You’ve downsized to a 14-inch screen, but it doesn’t seem much more portable than a 15-inch at this weight.

Overall, the Blade 14 is a fantastic laptop, but it seems trapped between worlds in a way that the Razer Blade Stealth 13 and Eluktronics MAX 15 don’t.

Pros

  • Components that are very strong.
  • Excellent gameplay performance.
  • It’s also appropriate for content developers.
  • The display is bright and colorful, with a resolution of 1440p.
  • Build quality is exceptional.
  • Excellent internet access.
  • Aesthetics that are appealing.
  • The battery life is excellent.

Cons

  • You’re paying for more electricity than you’ll ever utilize.
  • The cost is high

ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15

View on Amazon

So far on this list, we’ve seen two ASUS ROG alternatives, and they’ve taken two quite different paths. The Flow makes far too many compromises in the interest of portability, while the Zephyrus G14 makes optimal use of its components while staying portable. The G15 (ostensibly merely a bigger version of the G14) was supposed to achieve the same equilibrium.

It doesn’t strike the same balance in terms of mobility right away. With a thickness of 0.78 inches (19.8mm) and weight of well over four pounds, it’s bigger than the increase to a 15-inch screen would appear to warrant (1.9kg). This isn’t a deal-breaker if you’re searching for an ultralight gaming laptop, but it’s easily half the size of some of the lightweight gaming laptops available, that you’ll feel if you do have to walk a mile or two each day with this in your backpack.

In many ways, the Zephyrus G15 and the Razer Blade 14 are identical laptops. It has an 8-core Ryzen 9 CPU, an RTX 3080 graphics card, and 16GB of RAM. It’s even enabled the GPU to operate at a greater wattage, so although it’ll run hotter, you’ll get more performance out of it. When it comes to running hot, the chassis has some additional ventilation that keeps it mainly cool to the touch, although it will still become warm under continuous loads. When running at maximum settings, it’s also a pretty noisy laptop.

Ultimately, the G15 suffers from the same problem as the Blade 14. It’s more power than you’ll need or be able to utilize effectively on a laptop this little. Although the specs are pushed to offer you a choice, benchmarks are only modestly better than laptops that are both less priced and, for the purposes of this list, more accessible.

We have every reason to assume that the G15 3070 or 3060 version would provide a better-balanced experience at a more affordable price. Consider going back to one of those models or pivoting to the M16 if the G15’s size isn’t a deal-breaker. Try the G14 if you need something lighter with identical features.

Pros

  • Outstanding gameplay performance.
  • Hardware that is powerful and has a lot of memory.
  • The structure is of high grade.
  • It has a lovely design.
  • The 1440p display is large and beautiful.
  • Long-lasting battery.
  • There is a lot of connectedness

Cons

  • You’re paying for a certain quantity of electricity that may or may not be utilized.
  • There isn’t a webcam

Alienware M15 R5 / R6

View on Amazon

Once we initially got our grips on it, we were blown away by how effectively the Alienware M15 R6 managed the RTX 3080 GPU. Not only are you getting high-end components beneath the hood, but this machine also understands how to get the most out of them even if you choose a less expensive setup.

The M15 series, which was formerly Alienware’s flagship, has been pared down a touch with the introduction of the new X15. However, the price difference between the two (you’ll spend a lot less for this model) means that this gaming laptop is unbeatable in terms of the total value. On paper, you might argue that the X15 is the greatest Alienware gaming laptop, but when it comes to pricing and market share, this is the winner.

There are two models on the market right now: the Intel-based R6 and the AMD-based R5. That means, regardless of whatever camp you’re in right now, you’ll discover the appropriate spec for your collection.

All of that power comes at a price in terms of warmth; our testing device became really hot during intense times, but given the thin body and elegant style, it’s easy to forgive. Plus, there are some very powerful combinations available, so if you’re ready to invest the money, you’ll definitely enjoy the benefits.

On the finest gaming laptops, a mechanical laptop keyboard with adjustable RGB, N-Key Rollover, and anti-ghosting seems standard, but it’s worth noting that this is a very expensive feature hidden in a rather reasonable computer. Even in the most high-end systems, we seldom see these keyboards, so the extra attention to detail here is really impressive.

Pros

  • This was an outstanding performance.
  • Uses the RTX 3080 to its full potential.
  • The 360Hz display is incredible

Cons

  • It becomes incredibly heated and noisy.
  • For its size, it’s rather heavy

Dell G15

View on Amazon

The Dell G15 isn’t going to dominate the world of the greatest gaming laptops, but it’s a good choice for a gaming companion. Given the cost level, gaming and ordinary work performance are adequate, and all of the features we’ve grown to expect from gaming laptops are present and correct.

The laptop’s look, on the other hand, might be a subject of controversy, since we thought the chassis to be a little dated for 2022. A dark iridescent surface and a broad center hinge seem like throwbacks to a bygone era of tech design that would have been better left in the past.

We’ve developed cutting-edge systems to improve your gameplay experience, keep track of all of your gameplay and system settings, troubleshoot problems, and keep track of your time.

All hardware and software settings are now ultimately in control. You may adjust not only the technology but also the environment and configuration for each game you play to make your software look and feel precise as you would like it to without interrupting your gameplay.

When playing more visually demanding games, the G15 becomes heated, but not to an alarming degree; we’ve definitely evaluated laptops with louder fans than this. As such, the G15 is a wonderful all-arounder, perfect as a present for a youngster who wants to get into PC gaming or an office worker who is forced to work from home – and play.

Pros

  • Exceptional performance.
  • The pricing is reasonable

Cons

  • Under stress, he becomes heated.
  • The chassis is a bit of a letdown

Razer Blade 15

View on Amazon

This is our personal pick and the greatest gaming laptop available right now. Razer has established itself as a staple in the gaming laptop market, with a sleek and powerful lineup of gaming-focused Razer laptops.

Its pure greatness is abundant and can be seen in a variety of areas, the first and most prominent of which is the design. It’s a sleek computer with no flashy or problematic design themes, just some customary Razer green in the ports and a Razer snake as the machine’s symbol. It’s also very light and thin, which is remarkable given the strong components contained inside.

Yes, the Pro 17 model gives you more screen real estate and a somewhat heavier computer, but overall, this is the greatest gaming laptop you can purchase right now. Combine this with a Razer headset, Razer controller, or any of the finest Razer streaming gear on the market, and you’ll be on your way to an ideal gaming setup built around a computer that’s still portable.

Use the newest creative programs to edit, produce, and convert films smoothly and quickly with the VR Ready NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU with Max-Q design. Make the most of the 60Hz Full HD display for the smoothest and most immersive gaming experience imaginable. The Razer Blade is equipped with an 8th generation Intel Core i7-8750H 6-Core CPU, allowing it to do multi-tasking tasks such as gaming, streaming, and filming at the same time.

However, the new 2022 Razer Blade 15, which will include up to i9-12900H CPUs and an RTX 3080Ti GPU, will be available very soon.

Pros

  • The outward appearance is modern.
  • Specs to consume games
  • Razer’s reputation precedes them.

Cons

  • Battery life is mediocre.

The Acer Nitro 5 offers everything a young gamer needs for about $400 (or less!). It can almost completely replace a high-end gaming desktop PC for a fraction of the cost. With these devices pushing the budget category hard, you’re getting some amazing spec value.

The 11th generation Intel and AMD 5000-Series CPUs are leading the battle, with graphics cards up to RTX 3080—those are hard to disagree with.

The Acer Nitro 5 looks and feels like it will help you take control with its hard-edged futuristic design, complete with sleek lines and angles. Certainly, the design of the machine is a little dated, and you won’t get the smallest machine on the market, but if you want to get the most power for the least amount of effort, the Acer Nitro 5 is likely the best gaming laptop for you.

Higher cooling and fan speeds are provided by dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology. When intensive usage necessitates an extra boost, this novel function enables users to actively manage the cooling process.

Everyone is entitled to high-quality gaming. That’s why we built this beast with the fast, powerful GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics and 4GB of GDDR5 video memory. Acer TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio Premium immerse you in true sound, from fighting that final triumphant battle to capturing every nuance of your movie soundtrack.

Dual fans with Acer Coolboost technology provide increased cooling and fan speeds. When intensive usage necessitates an extra boost, this novel function enables users to actively manage the cooling process. Because the Nitro 5 is a little heavy, it’s not the most portable gaming machine, but neither are most laptops with 17-inch displays. Overall, this is a great entry-level gaming system that still has the flexibility required for work (assuming your coworkers don’t condemn you for your red-and-black paint job).

Pros

  • Excellent gameplay performance.
  • Excellent value for money.
  • NitroSense is a piece of software

Cons

  • Color reproduction is poor.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16

View on Amazon

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16, despite its odd nomenclature, is everything we hoped for from the G15. It makes a number of significant display modifications that are quite useful on a laptop with this technology, and it cuts corners in all the key areas to put it in the perfect spot for the price to capability.

The Zephyrus M16, like many well-built laptops, seems to be lighter than it is. If you’re carrying it around all day, the 4.19 pounds (1.9 kg) will be noticeable, but it still seems light for a gaming laptop in terms of daily heaviness.

With a QHD display, the M16 now has one of the best screens we’ve seen on a laptop this year (25601600). It features excellent color reproduction, with 100 percent sRGB coverage and a brightness of 512 nits, which is almost twice as bright as some of the other alternatives on our list.

Plus, the extra space down the bottom, along with the high-resolution display and processing capability, make this an excellent choice for video editing and general productivity. With a current-generation 8-core i9 CPU and 16GB of RAM, the M16 maintains the high levels of memory and processing capability seen in the previous two entrants.

The M16 (at least this variant) has scaled down from the powerful but difficult to install 3080 to the more modest but still quite competent 3060. It won’t be flawless with the increased resolution, but it will offer you a beautiful experience in most games. The thermals are adequate, but not ideal. It employs a fold-under hinge to raise the vents of your desk and enable better ventilation, which helps, but it still produces a lot of heat (and makes a lot of noise) if you turn it on and run it at maximum settings.

Ultimately, with modest use, the M6 can obtain 6-7 hours of battery life, which makes it a solid choice for on-the-go efficiency, but it won’t last a whole working day, especially if you need to complete some more demanding duties or have a gaming break in the midst of the day.

Overall, the M16 may not seem as interesting as some of the other laptops on our list, but it’s a terrific machine that’s presently the lightest 16″ gaming laptop available. Everyone, even those who want extreme mobility, will benefit from the balance of portability and performance.

Pros

  • The screen is a large 16″ IPS display.
  • Beautiful, crisp, and vivid display.
  • At this price, it’s a fantastic laptop.
  • Components are well-balanced and used.
  • It’s ideal for both gaming and work.
  • The battery life is excellent.
  • There is a lot of connectedness.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons

  • Under full load, the engine is loud and hot.
  • It’s not as portable as some other models with comparable features.

ASUS TUF Dash 15

View on Amazon

The Dash 15 comes from ASUS’ TUF gaming division, which would be more cost-effective. In many aspects, the TUF lineup is similar to the ROG lineup, although it is less meticulously constructed and hence isn’t necessarily as portable or balanced.

The Dash series is supposed to become a more handheld gaming solution, so it has been on the good side of gaming laptops while being one of the heavier options on our list. To be fair, it was the same length as the two ROG versions before it, and at this price, slim or even well are your only alternatives. Plus, at 4.41 pounds, it’s a tad heavier (2 kg).

It was on the basic side in terms of effectiveness, but for the cost, it’s really nice. For under a thousand dollars, you can get an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti graphics card, an 11th-generation i7 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD in a relatively light frame. The processor’s maximum power consumption is restricted to 35 watts, which is a major flaw. This saves power and heat, but it limits multitasking and gaming performance to some extent.

When it comes to gaming, we wouldn’t suggest this computer to anybody who wants to play the newest AAA games. Although online competitive games and your favorite classics will look and run wonderfully, you may have to adjust the settings in certain circumstances.

The display on this laptop is excellent for a cheap gaming laptop. You have a 144hz FHD monitor with almost 100% sRGB coverage. It’s not particularly bright, with a full brightness of about 280 nits, and that’s something that some of the more pricey laptops on this list have struggled with as well, so it’s tough to be too harsh.

The ASUS TUF Dash 15 isn’t flawless, but it’s far less expensive than the majority of the laptops on our list. It fulfills all of the requirements for a portable gaming laptop and performs well for the price. You can have a smoother overall experience if you have an additional $500, but that’s a luxury that not everyone has

Pros

  • The laptop is reasonably light and inexpensive.
  • One of the lightest budget laptops available.
  • Thermals and power aren’t as demanding.
  • Given the price, this is an excellent show.
  • It is more portable because of its battery life.
  • 15-inch IPS display.
  • Even with a heavy load, it is quiet

Cons

  • RAM and computational power are both limited.
  • There isn’t a webcam.

GIGABYTE G5 MD

View on Amazon

You’ve undoubtedly come across Gigabyte components, most notably motherboards, whether you’ve constructed your own PC or shopped for one. We might have seen Gigabyte’s G5 MD laptop go either way since they tend to give a “set and forget” level of performance at a very affordable price for their components.

The G5 is a 15-inch laptop that is stretching the bounds of what we deem lightweight for a gaming laptop and is also the heaviest on the list. With a thickness of 1.09 inches, it’s one of the few laptops available that is more than an inch thick (27.69mm).

When it comes to mobility, that’s a significant negative, and it gets much worse when you consider the battery life, which is just 2-3 hours of non-gaming usage. We cannot suggest this one for everyday work or school journeys. It’s fine for a student who returns home every weekend, but that’s about the limit of its travel capabilities.

Performance is where the G5 truly shines, at least in comparison to the price. You get a six-core i5 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 3050ti for under a thousand dollars (again, we want to emphasize how few great gaming laptops you can buy for this budget). We weren’t expecting it to run Cyberpunk without burning a hole in the table, but it managed to get 40FPS and stay there very consistently, even if the fans became noisy in the process. Shooters, racing games, and online ranking games will all perform much better.

The display was another nice surprise, with a 144hz refresh rate, about 100% sRGB coverage, and a brightness of 275 nits, which isn’t much lower than any other choice on our list. The Gigabyte G5 MD does have a few flaws. This laptop barely makes the mark when it comes to thin and light gaming laptops since it weighs less than 5 pounds.

However, it outperforms the somewhat more costly TUF Dash 15 in terms of performance and feels much less throttled. Its sheer bulkiness will be the deciding factor, especially if both you and your laptop are frequently on the move.

Pros

  • Extremely cost-effective.
  • For the money, a well-balanced performance.
  • Thermals are effective, if noisy.
  • The IPS display is large and precise.
  • Components from the current generation.
  • The degree of connection is excellent

Cons

  • The battery life is terrible.
  • Taking the term “lightweight gaming laptop” to its logical conclusion.

MSI GS66 Stealth

Only 3 laptops on our list aren’t suitable for 1440p gaming performance, such as the MSI GS66 Stealth. It’s the heaviest of the three, as you would expect given its place at the bottom of the list, but it’s still a fantastic machine in many ways.

It’s the same thickness as the ASUS alternative, 0.71 inches (18mm), but it’s a lot heavier, weighing in at 4.63 pounds (2.1 kg). The additional level has fluctuated into producing a lot more robust laptop than you’d anticipate from MSI, as well as increased cooling power. That’s always a plus when attempting to shove a laptop to its utmost flexibility and high performance.

The keyboard and touchpad, on the other hand, aren’t as good as you’d think for the cost, but the keyboard is good enough for gameplay, and you’ll definitely need an additional mouse too.

The MSI GS66 delivers a punch in terms of effectiveness, with an 8-core i7 CPU, an RTX 3060 GPU, 32 GB of RAM, and 2 GB of internal storage. The GS66 uses a great deal of power, for both its individual components and for its refrigeration system, which is normal for broadcasting and video-editing laptops. The only area where the GS66 has issues is with the fans. There are three of them, and they all perform their jobs, so this may seem like nitpicking, but they sound terrible and start-up for even the simplest activities.

Fortunately, MSI has allocated some of the extra weight and space to the battery. Given how power-hungry the components may be, you’ll get a respectable 7-8 hours of light usage out of it, which is remarkable. When compared to ROG and Razer, MSI isn’t the brand we’d expect to give the best gaming performance. It’s a touch bulkier than the others, and the fans will take some getting used to, but there’s almost nothing that made us wish we also has one of the other laptops on our list.

Pros

  • Outstanding gameplay performance.
  • A large, colorful exhibition.
  • The refresh rate is 240hz.
  • There’s a lot of RAM and storage.
  • Under load, it does not overheat.
  • Battery life is adequate

Cons

  • Fans who are loud and obnoxious.
  • Not always available.

Conclusion

In 2022, these were the best lightweight gaming laptops on the market. There’s a wide variety of weights to choose from, so it’s up to you to decide how much you want to value weight above performance.

A few make concessions we believed were excessive in order to reach lower weights, although they may perform better in different setups. The majority of them are absolutely outstanding laptops that showcase the engineering and performance possible in gaming laptops this year.

Quick Shopping Tips for the Best Lightest Gaming Laptops

So, as is traditional, we’ll start with the shopping advice. We’ll go over all of the crucial things to look for before making a purchase in this section.

Processor

The CPU is the most important component of a laptop or desktop computer. It’s in control of almost everything that occurs inside, and your device wouldn’t work at all if it didn’t have one! Because it’s more difficult to upgrade or replace the CPU in a laptop later, it’s vital to do it correctly the first time.

A collection of instructions makes up every processor. It describes how a computer understands code, and each one has its own blueprint for carrying out that function. This is the most important decision point for your next processor, whether it’s an operating system or an application.

Battery backup

The average laptop battery life is one to ten hours. This, however, varies depending on the kind of your computer and how you use it.

When it’s not in use, it’s critical to take good care of it and make sure it’s well ventilated so the cells don’t overheat or catch fire.

Weight

The weight of a laptop has the largest influence on its mobility, or the ease with which you can carry your computer about, also known as “handling.” premium Laptops are available in a range of sizes and designs. Some are meant to be ultraportable, while others have a desktop computer’s battery life but are considerably smaller!

The weight of a computer with its standard battery fitted is usually listed on the manufacturer’s website. A laptop’s weight varies depending on the screen size. In general, a small (14-inch) weighs 1.5 to 2kg, a large (17-inch) weighs 3kg, and a medium (16-inch) weighs 2 to 2.5kg.

RAM

Physical strips of RAM are available. Each strip has a different amount of memory storage space, ranging from 2GB to 32GB, and your system will easily handle the extra load! Most modern laptops, with the exception of those with 8GB or more RAM, have two memory slots and utilize 4GB in each strip, allowing you to increase as required.

Your software must be more memory and space-efficient since the quantity of memory available to it is limited and it competes for resources with other apps. Placing high-density modules in each slot is the best way to make the most of your computer’s memory

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to play The Sims 4 on a laptop?

Absolutely. Many computers meet or surpass the minimal requirements for playing The Sims 4 effectively. Look for a laptop with enough RAM (8GB is an excellent option) and a strong CPU with an integrated graphics card if you want it to function exceptionally smoothly. Even on high settings and sophisticated visual settings, this will provide optimum gameplay performance for the base game and several expansion packs.

Is The Sims 4 causing your PC to crash?

Because The Sims 4 is released by Electronic Arts, a well-known gaming firm, it will not infect your computer with bloatware or viruses. To put it another way, it will not harm your machine. To prevent your laptop from overheating, you may wish to set a framerate limit. This is especially true for machines with less-than-average computing capability.
